Continuing the Traditions...

The New York State Designer Blacksmiths (NYSDB) is a 501(c)3 not for profit group of men and women who share a common interest in maintaining and sharing the craft and art of blacksmithing. We come together to share this interest and explore both historic and modern techniques.

 

The organiztion is lead by a board of four officers whose responsibilites are defined in our BYLAWS:

 

  1. President
  2. Vice-President
  3. Treasurer
  4. Secretary

 

These elected volunteers serve as officers, committee chairpersons, and members of committees. Each board member is elected each year.

 

In addition to these board members, the orgaization is composed of the following committees:

 

  • Elections
  • Bylaws
  • Membership
  • Publicity/Promotion
  • Budget
  • Conference Planning

 

Each region is led by a forgemaster who's responsibilities include:

 

  • Scheduling/organizing monthly meetings which should include demonstrations and hands-on opportunities.
  • Oversee the safety of all attendees at local meetings.
  • Run an “Iron in the Hat” raffle at each meeting and encourage members to bring items to donate to the raffle.

  • Submitting a written report to the newsletter editor for each regional meeting in
    a timely manner for publication in the next newsletter.
