There is not a monthly project but there is a general theme
for the year.
(1) We will be restarting the Journeyman project so that essential skills
will be practiced. The project will have a square frame of 1/2" square
stock with a forged square corner, a welded corner, a tenoned corner and a
1/2 lap corner. The center will be a forged quatrefoil. The center piece
will be collared to the frame with pierced hole collars. The necessary
tooling will be made by the smiths as a project. We will require a full
scale drawing to work from. To finish this project will demand skills in
design, measurements, welding, tooling, forging to a specific shape and
size, piercing and collaring.
(2) We will have some projects working with railroad spikes such as
tomahawks, knives, fantasy Wizards and a BBQ set.
(3) We will be having tooling workshop as an ongoing theme, making
various punches, chisels ( straight and curved) top and bottom
swages, drifts, etc.
Dick Rightmyer and John Rausch, co-forge masters.
